Julie McEnerny

Cairns’ artist Julie McEnerny trained at Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, later relocating to Cairns where she co-owned a popular design studio, the Chalk Art Shop, until 2008.

Julie now works as a freelance artist and illustrator from her Cairns studio with a focus on botanical drawing. During 2009 she accepted a Botanical Artist residency with Cairns Botanic Gardens and Tanks Arts Centre, which led to a series of five annual exhibitions: Offshoots I-V. A retrospective of these works toured fourteen venues throughout Australia including the Australian National Botanic Gardens in Canberra.

"They are all my original works, drawn from live plants and involving hours of wonderfully pleasant work, either in the studio surrounded by gorgeous flowering plants or on field trips to nearby Saltwater Creek for sketching."
